August 2026: App Stores, IndexNow and Kaiku on your phone

Your app's visibility on the App Store and Google Play, Bing indexing without the wait, Core Web Vitals from real visitors and an app you can install on your phone

On this page

August opens Kaiku to app stores: an App Stores module tracks your app's listing on the App Store and Google Play, then grows a keyword research tool, a competing-app explorer and a listing audit. The month adds IndexNow, Core Web Vitals measured on real visitors and Hacker News and Bluesky monitoring. Kaiku also becomes comfortable on a phone, its pages open fast all week, and a missed Sunday scan is caught up.

What you need to do

  • Declare your app, if you have one: in Rank on Google and Bing › App Stores › Ranking, click Configure, enter the App Store ID and/or the Google Play package, your keywords, countries and competitors, then Save and Scan now. The app can also be declared in Project › Settings › Project, on the Mobile app card.
  • Turn on IndexNow, once per project: in Rank on Google and Bing › Technical audit › IndexNow, click Generate the project key, put the key file at the root of your site, then click Verify the file.
  • Install Kaiku on your phone, if you like: open the app in your phone's browser, then choose “Add to Home Screen” from the browser menu.

App Stores: your app's visibility

The App Stores module bridges SEO and ASO (search optimization inside app stores). It is included from the Starter plan. Where: Rank on Google and Bing › App Stores.

  • Ranking (August 21): your rankings on your keywords, per store, country and language, the listing audit, recent reviews, the app's rank in its category and a table against your competing apps. Up to 5 competitors and 6 tracked countries out of 16. On August 25, a visual audit (icon, videos, promo graphic) and an A/B test plan were added. See App Stores — complete ASO tracking.
  • Listing & naming (August 29): a scored audit of the listing on both stores, the gap with your competitors and naming advice that measures the market before suggesting a title. See Listing & naming.
  • ASO keywords (August 29): real App Store suggestions, a word combiner, a listing analyzer and your competitors' keywords, with computed popularity and difficulty. See ASO keywords.
  • App explorer (August 29): analyze any app in the stores, even one you don't manage, from its ID or its address. The Check screenshots button (August 31) shows the screenshots actually read before the visual comparison. See App explorer.
  • Missing data never counts against you: a criterion the store doesn't publish is skipped, not scored zero, and a doubtful estimate is removed rather than replaced with a made-up figure.

Google, Bing and SEO

Two technical measures join your site audit. Where: Rank on Google and Bing › Technical audit.

  • IndexNow (August 21): a page you publish or update is flagged right away to Bing's index, the one that also feeds Microsoft Copilot. You submit addresses by hand, up to 100 at a time, and articles sent to WordPress from a brief are submitted automatically. See IndexNow.
  • Core Web Vitals measured on real visitors (August 21): on top of the lab test, the Core Web Vitals page reads the field data Google publishes for your site (CrUX), collected from real Chrome users. See Core Web Vitals.

GEO and external presence

  • AI recommendation rank (August 1): copy your tracked prompts and test them live, to see where you stand in each engine's answer. Where: Act › GEO Lab › AI Rank. See AI recommendation rank.
  • Social buzz: Hacker News and Bluesky (August 21): mentions of your brand on these two public networks are collected at no cost and join your external presence. Where: Get cited by AI › External presence › Social buzz. See Social buzz.

Platform and comfort

  • Kaiku on your phone (August 22): pages adapt to small screens (scrolling tables, adjusted filters and charts), and the app installs on your home screen like a native one.
  • Pages that open fast all week (August 13): data collected at the Sunday scan stays ready until the next reading; the Home page and heavy pages display without waiting for new calls.
  • A missed Sunday scan is caught up (August 24): if the automatic scan fails or doesn't run, Kaiku detects it, keeps the cause and runs it again. The Home page shows the date of the last scan prominently. See Scan scheduler.
  • Fix (August 29): analyses written by Claude, interrupted by a technical update, work again, and an analysis that fails now says why instead of staying silent.
